Antic Mallorca represents Araceli Iranzo’s unique vision within a broader initiative to preserve and honor the traditional palm leaf weaving of Mallorca. Once a thriving publicist in Madrid, Araceli and her family transformed a vacation house on the island into their permanent home, captivated by Mallorca’s peaceful landscapes. Her encounter with Ses Madones de sa Llata, a group of local women who weave palm leaves sun-dried on the island, served as her inspiration. In 2009, she launched Antic Mallorca, a niche brand crafting accessories that fuse traditional weaving with modern designs emphasizing color and form. Collaborating with her sister and perfumer Mónica Iranzo, she also developed the Antic Mallorca Slow perfume, distinguished by its handmade palm leaf-adorned bottle and inspired by the island’s orange groves. In 2021, with the support of Ses Madones, Araceli and two artisans founded La Escuela Artesana, an acclaimed arts and crafts school central to the cultural preservation movement that Antic Mallorca now leads.
