Maka Dama's Arena collection of perforated pieces is inspired by the porous, weather-worn rocks shaped by wind along the Mediterranean coast. Each piece is handmade in Alicante and finished with Maka Dama's signature technique of textured gold.

The Maker

Maka Dama is Aleix Guillén, working from his workshop in Petrer, a small Mediterranean town in Alicante. He learned the craft from his mother Marieta — and from her, he learned something more valuable than technique: to follow intuition, to let sensitivity guide the work from first sketch to finished piece. Every collection begins in nature and ends in the hands of someone who wears it. Each piece is designed and handmade by Aleix, finished with his signature technique of textured gold.

Why We Chose It

We chose Maka Dama because of the story behind it — a craft learned from a mother, taken forward and made entirely personal. But we stayed for the pieces: handmade in a small Mediterranean workshop, finished with a textured gold technique that is unmistakably their own. Every piece carries something of the landscape — the light, the coast, the natural world around the workshop.
