Hand-woven straw in the capazo shape — the traditional Spanish basket, reinterpreted. Pebble leather handles, leather fringe, and a gold chain strap for crossbody wear. Zipper closure. The Rock Mini is compact but not quiet — it carries the character of the form it comes from. Made by hand in Gata de Gorgos, Alicante.

The Maker

Piel de Mar is Lourdes' project — built on her mother's leather atelier in Gata de Gorgos, Alicante, and taken somewhere new. Before coming back to the workshop, Lourdes had a career as an engineer. When she returned, she introduced a new specialization: palm weaving, a craft the region has always been known for and that local artisans have practiced for generations. She combined that tradition with the leather expertise her mother's atelier was already built on, and her engineering background shapes how the two work together — in the structure, the proportions, the way each piece is built to last. The result is a women-owned workshop where two crafts meet, made by hand, by the community around it.

Why We Chose It

There's a real story behind these bags — a mother's leather atelier, a daughter who trained as an engineer and came back to take it somewhere new, and a community of artisans in Gata de Gorgos who have been working with palm for generations. Piel de Mar is what happens when all of that comes together: pieces that are genuinely handmade, structurally considered, and built from materials the region has always known how to use.
